Hilton Okinawa Miyakojima Resort is scheduled to open in the early summer of 2023 and will be developed and built by Mitsubishi Estate (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Junichi Yoshida) and Kajima Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koichi Oshimi).

Rosewood Miyakojima is scheduled to open in 2024 (exact date yet to be confirmed) and will be developed by Mitsubishi Estate and managed by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts®, an ultra-luxury hotel and resort operator.

The Hilton Okinawa Miyakojima Resort is located in “Turibar” area.
The Hilton Okinawa Miyakojima Resort will be located in Turibar of Taira Port area.
The hotel is located about 15 minutes (7km) by car from Miyako Airport, which has direct flights from all major Japanese cities, and about 25 minutes (13km) by car from Shimojijima Airport, which has direct flights from Hong Kong as well as all major Japanese cities, and will be close to the city centre of Miyakojima and the Irabu Bridge. The hotel is going to be oceanfront and facing the beach, so it will take advantage of its location to overlook the Irabu Bridge.

Is “Rosewood Miyakojima” near Sunayama Beach?
It has not yet been announced where Rosewood Miyakojima will be built. According to the announcement, it will be “located on a small secluded promontory surrounded by white sand beaches, dramatic rock formations and blue waters”, and given that it is only a 20 minute drive from Miyako Airport and less than 30 minutes from Shimojijima Airport, it may be near Sunayama Beach.

The Hilton Okinawa Miyakojima Resort has a total site area of 54,769 square meters and a total building floor area of 27,983 square meters, with eight floors above ground and 329 guest rooms, making it a rather large facility.
The 329 rooms will be twin, king and suite types, as well as barrier-free rooms. The common facilities will include a restaurant, bar, executive lounge, meeting rooms, spa, fitness room, swimming pool and wedding chapel.

What are the rooms and facilities at Rosewood Miyakojima?
Rosewood Miyakojima will have 55 villas, all of which will have private pools and gardens. Each villa will also have an unobstructed view of the sea.
Studio Piet Boon, based in the Netherlands, will be in charge of the architectural design, from furniture and interior design to architecture.
The Japanese design firm Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei Ltd. will also be involved in the project as local architects.
There will be four restaurants and bars, all based on the concept of a relaxed beachfront. Fresh seafood, locally raised award-winning beef, locally distilled Awamori and craft beer will be served.
There are event pavilions both inside and outside the resort, where wedding parties and private celebrations can be held against the backdrop of the ocean.
The Rosewood Explorer’s Club, a separate building, will offer a range of experiences for children, encouraging adventure, discovery and social responsibility through unique local experiences.
In addition, the Asaya urban wellness facility offers treatment rooms surrounded by private gardens, indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy facilities, and a menu of programmes and services inspired by local healing traditions.

In addition to Miyako Airport, which has regular flights from Haneda, Kansai, Nagoya, Naha and other airports, Shimojijima Airport (developed by Mitsubishi Estate and operated by its group company Shimojijima Airport Management Co.
